                                                     Day 8 of media production

Claire made changes due to feedback she recieved from the class as other various feedback and shorted and changed scenes due to feedback and also added in titles scenes below is a completed example.

day 5 - 7

Day 5-7

On day five we  began editing our recorded media course work I began making our iDENT, which will be featured towards the beginging of our media piece, we all decided that we wanted a door for our iDENT as we belived doors symbolised oppurtnity and change, although the grass is not always greener on the otherside, I then used the image of a door and changed the colours whilst also adding a glowing effect to make everything seem more sinister and thrilling, we then examined our finished piece and decided on a name for our production industry, we decided on Gateway productions.

On day seven Claire then uploaded a rough copy of our work to youtube for feedback, whilst me and Tariq worked on audeince questionares and feedback.

Files and images that look like some form of investigation about a predicted terrorist attack.

There will be a close up of a symbol, maybe religious.

Tariq walking, dressed smartly.

A close up on Tariq's brief case of his name tag.

Andrew walking, acting paranoid.

Andrews face.

Of Andrew walking, taken in away that someone is watching from afar.

Mohiburs shoes.

Someone checking their watch in an impatient manner, notice a tattoo of the symbol.

Tariq walking entering a building.

Mohiburs shoes, in comes a new set of feet, from this we will pan upwards to reveal the two people. Andrew and Mohibur.

A discussion between the 2.

Of Andrew handing over what seems to be a suspicious file, notice that both men have the same symbolic tattoo.

Mohibur hides file under coat and walks away, multiple shots of this.

Close up of a plaque on an office door with Tariqs name.

Mid shot of Tariq near the office on the phone 'Send over the images'.

We see Tariq enter the office.

We see Tariq at the computer looking through images, images of Mohibur and Andrew meetings.

Tariqs face as he has some form of realization.

Tariq hurrying over to his desk with all of his files.

Circles the date 7/01 on calendar.

A hand appears over Tariqs shoulder, tattoo in sight on arm.

Title appears.

Audience research

                                                    Audience reasearch

                                             Class discusion and questionare
Class discussion
In class a discussion was conducted about where and which films were watched, this discussion was conducted with 10 A level media studies students, where we was asked where we watch films those answers ranged from at home, cinema and other various places such as at a friends house, as well as how they was watched differentiated from dvd,TV to various applications such as netflix and lovefilm. Pupils were then asked why they choose to watch those films, and these answers varied from mood on the day to and various desires such as convections and elements that they wanted to see in a film

Analyse of three students past work

                                                   Analysing past students work

We was given this task to help create ideas on how we would create our own thriller opening, this helped us think and gave us ideas from what other people have done and also gave us tips on what we shouldn't and should do and I saw how certain media productions went a bit off track into other genres and lacked certain thriller features.

Possessed looked and sounded more like a horror opening but it did display some thriller convections such as cliff hanging scenes and Macguffins, i think they have made good use of Mise-en-scene especially with the props such as the vomit and the blood, I wouldn't say that the music was appropriate it sounded a bit out of place like disco music, but the sound effects were in line with what was going on and made sense, I think it lacked technical security as it looked to me more like a horror film, but possibly could be turned into a psychological thriller.

Analysing past student work part 2

The decoy does look like a normal thriller opening and not like other openings that looked like horror trailers, including a variety of different sound types and music I like the way off screen sound was included and the parallel sound and the way the sound in general matched each situation it added to the suspense and whole experience of watching the opening thriller convections were good there was a lot of suspense and confusion and a few Macguffins, Mise-en-scene was also good as the setting was good as well as the lighting, setting and props , maybe the characters position within the frames could have been improved slightly overall this seemed like a good opening and technically secure.

Analysing past students work part 3

It's personal looks like a very slow paced thriller openning, where as typically thriller opening's have action or some thriller devices to attract the audiences attention or make them feel some sort of suspense or tension, although the openning progressed the tension did build up and I began to wonder what they was going to do when they was driving up to where they was going, aswell as what was going to happen with the person that was kidnapped, the on and off screen sound was good and fitted in with what was on screen, mise-en-scene was good as the props stood out most to me out of all the openings, as well as having good costumes although the lighting was abit too dark, at the beginging of the openining in the scenes within the house.

Preliminary exercise and evaluation

                                                Preliminary exercise and evaluation

Below is a demonstration of the thriller convections and techniques we have learnt, this was done to help us evaluate and improve our skills, whilst helping us to work towards making a thriller opening sequence, which will be used for our coursework and marked.

Evaluation
We managed to include most of the new techniques we had learnt from studying thriller convections as well as sound and camera types in this preliminary task examples of this would be the "crane" camera shot providing a birds eye view of mine and Mohiburs conflict at the table, this shot allowed us to get all the action into one scene and was most effective in that scene, we then tried to incorporate thriller conventions by including a Macguffin, the scene where the door opens and the shot only reveals the characters feet, this was done so that the audience would feel tension and suspense as to who was coming into the room.
